colour power couple: purple and yellow

I’m not quite sure what the colours purple and yellow would be called if they were a Hollywood power couple (Yurple?), but I do know this: they are, undoubtedly, a tonal match made in heaven. And it’s not even my love of bold colours speaking, Creatives, it’s a fact!

I’ve been learning all about complimentary colours during my time at the International School of Colour and Design and because yellow and purple are directly opposite one another on the colour wheel (a tool that most designers use when they’re piecing a room together) they become perfect to pair up when you’re creating a colour story for your space.

Of course, in a room like the one featured, it’s important to introduce some other colours through accessories. Green and charcoal grey will work perfectly with purple and yellow tones, as will dark woods and white accents.

Shop the look: The pieces in this feature comes courtesy of one of my fave stores for all things furniture, Oz Design – Coco Sofa in Purple -from $2499.

  1. I’m loving them but I just can’t find a suitable side chair to match! Husband wants to buy this combo but only if we get him a comfortable chair as this couch is so deep!
