1 | I didn’t think tealight candles could get any prettier in giving a room some atmosphere until I cast my eyes on this gang of six from the masterminds at The Tealight Co (the Black Snowflake is my fave). These soy wax candles – available via Superking Australia – use rice paper washi tape and are all about embracing colour and light. I’m sold; I’ll take 650 in each colour thanks!

news just in: whites and brights do mix

War_Pony_2

If it’s one thing Mumma Creative has been telling me for years, it’s that brights and whites don’t mix. While this is of course true when it comes to washing your clothes (if I find one more pink shirt!) the same cannot be said for home decor.

why you’re going to love *bespoke* magazine

issue9-bespoke-1-coverhr

This week I got the opportunity to fall in love with a new magazine; one that blends arts, crafts, creative people, places and more. Sounds a little bit like The Life Creative, don’t you think? Perhaps this is why I’m so smitten with *bespoke*. For its ninth issue, new editors Robyn and Elle redirected the mag’s focus slightly to include only Australian and NZ creatives and their handmade products. Supporting local creatives – what could be better? This issue is full of inspiration and a few gorgeous surprises. On with the preview!

this week’s top seven creative finds

1 | It’s no secret that I pretty much need coffee drip-fed to me on a daily basis (is four coffees too many?), so when I spotted these amazing Lavazza A Modo Mio machines at Myer at the weekend I went a little batty with excitement. I’m in love with the colourful sheen on these  bad boys and the blue and green shades have to be my favourite. Check out their website for the full colour range!

market picks for a glorious mother’s day

mothers_day_grid_wide_shot

1 | You know what I always say; the presentation is just as important as the present itself. Thankfully Kikki K has you covered when it comes to their range of Mother’s Day cards, wrapping and ribbon – in beautiful pink, white and pale green hues. It’s all very floral and feminine and is sure to have Mumma smiling on the big day!

bedhead bliss and more in the may/june inside out

IOT0513coverAUS

I was saying as recently as last week just how eager I was to get an ensemble bed so that I could switch up the bed head at a moments notice when I got bored (and Lord knows I love to change up my decor!). Days later the May/June issue of Inside Out Magazine hit my doorstep (thank you magazine subscription!) and what should grace the pages – a feature on bed heads! I am never one to be dramatic but clearly this is a sign from above. Clearly.

my low budget, low maintenance garden

P1100923

Plants are that demanding sometimes that I just lose interest in trying to keep them going all the time. Short of having a courtyard that resembles a cement museum, I had to find some low maintenance greenery to give my garden a low-budget pop. Half-an-hour in Flower Power was all it took to get these hardy babies a new home (and they’re still alive!). Total spend on plants and soil was around $60.

my top five market picks for a cosy autumn

Winter is but a few months away and this past week in Sydney has been rain-filled and chilly. For me, that means a state of unadulterated bliss, as I love everything about Autumn. Ok, the death of daylight savings was not welcomed, but I adore the chance to rug up, get the fingerless gloves on, eat like it’s going out of style and generally hibernate. Here are my five market picks to make that chill a little bit cuter.

creative finds | this week’s top seven

1 | I lost my mind strolling through Opus Design Co in Paddington and I am not certain I have it back yet. The front window of this store was breathtaking on its own. This ottoman, in all its coloured glory, is the things dreams are made of (if only I didn’t have cats who would take joy in removing every single ball). I love the colour clash that’s going on with this piece – it just works. Continue reading

creative finds | this easter weekend’s top seven

Now I’m never one to complain about a four day weekend, but I was gutted to discover that so many homewares stores were closed (first world problem!). Not that it slowed me down entirely; I just packed a lot into the two days the stores were trading and got to a few bars in-between (all for research, you see).

1 | The Clock Hotel just underwent a killer renovation and I had to go to scope out the new-and-improved decor (it had nothing to do with wanting a wine!). These mind-blowing orange and teal industrial stools – clustered together to make a faux table – were just too good and reminded me of my industrial coffee table. I have an entire tour of the hot and happening new Clock coming up this week!
