Now it’s no secret that I’m a tad garden challenged. I do love to buy plants for my courtyard, but I seldom seem to be able to keep them alive. I am tinkering with the idea, though, of a herb garden this winter. Naturally, I turned to foodie, blogger extraordinaire and more importantly – skilled gardner – Melanie from The Adventures of Miss Piggy, to give me some tips on how to get my herb garden going.

my low budget, low maintenance garden

Plants are that demanding sometimes that I just lose interest in trying to keep them going all the time. Short of having a courtyard that resembles a cement museum, I had to find some low maintenance greenery to give my garden a low-budget pop. Half-an-hour in Flower Power was all it took to get these hardy babies a new home (and they’re still alive!). Total spend on plants and soil was around $60.

creative finds | this weekend’s top seven

1 | I am not sure what you call an Easter version of Kris Kringle, but my office is doing one this week and I was so freakin’ excited to get my hands on one of these awesome paper bags – complete with bunny stamp and pom pom – at Paper2 in Surry Hills. I always say the presentation is just as important as the present itself, so once I fill mine with oodles of chocolate I certainly hope the recipient enjoys it!
