custom prints, cushions and calendars from Tomfo – Tomorrow’s Family Organiser

Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 1.55.42 PM

For Sarah Preston, the founder of Tomfo (Tomorrow’s Family Organiser), keeping her home running smoothly has become second nature. “We always say put it on the calendar; if it’s not on the calendar, it’s not on,” she says. The local creative not only produces a family organiser you can use to keep your life in order (in dire need right here!), but she’s producing some other creative gems I’m going gaga over too.

hanging out with temple & webster at better homes & gardens live

Screen Shot 2013-09-23 at 6.51.48 PM

The weekend gone by was a busy one, but I managed to squeeze in a quick dash to Better Homes & Gardens Live to see my fave peeps from Temple & Webster. The T&W team have been great supporters of the blog from the moment it started, letting me pop to their HQ a few times to look-in on shoots and more. Needless to say, the T&W stand was by far the standout from the event.

a tour of tlc headquarters – my humble home!

Screen Shot 2013-08-10 at 3.41.27 PM

I did a bit of a clean up on Saturday and thought it might be a good opportunity to show you inside my home. After all, the cats were behaving, the sun was shining and I was busy killing time trying to avoid doing homework for my course (procrastination is something I’ve become very skilled at). So here you go, Creatives, it’s not the stuff magazines are made of – but nobody lives in the magazines anyway – so take a squiz and let me know what you think.

my new distressed coasters from stone inspired

P1130255

I’ve been through my fair share of coasters over the years. Not only because some of them fall apart, but because it’s hard to hone in on a style that feels timeless as well as working from a practical perspective (a cork coaster is a one way ticket to Absorption City). I was a bit overcome when I got my hands on these bad boys from Stone Inspired, then – with a personalised gift inside just for me!

what goes into styling a photo shoot?

Screen Shot 2013-07-27 at 4.09.50 PM

I’d always known that styling a photo shoot wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t until I hit Temple & Webster HQ a few weeks back and saw the team in action that I realised just how laborious it can be. I sat down with T&W’s Head of Styling, Jessica Bellef, to get the scoop on what she and Senior Stylist Adam Powell deal with daily when they’re putting together their glorious homewares shoots.

become a part of the life creative’s real rooms

p1070428

The very reason I started this blog was to connect like-minded creatives and showcase amazing spaces – not just the high end ones you see in the magazines (because let’s face it; nobody lives in the magazines). With this in mind, I present a glorious new initiative that you can get involved in, that’ll show the world the breathtaking nooks and crannies of your home in all their styled glory. I call it ‘Real Rooms’ – and here’s how you can get involved!

my ikea winter living room makeover

P1130004

When the team at IKEA contacted me to take part in their blogger challenge – where you’re given $200 to add some winter warmth to your space – it was less of a challenge and more of an all-stops train to Blissville. I’ve been an IKEA addict since birth (my first word was Karlskrona), so adding more of their wares to my existing collection was a glorious experience indeed.

my behind the scenes tour at temple & webster

P1120680

Not long after I attended the Temple & Webster styling workshop at iscd a few weeks back, Karen McCartney and the team from T&W were kind enough to ask me if i’d like to spend an afternoon at their headquarters, to which I replied (to quote Geri Halliwell in the acclaimed movie Spice World) “Is the Pope a Catholic?” Needless to say, I had kittens, died from excitement, resuscitated myself and high-tailed it to their Alexandria warehouse for a behind the scenes tour – camera in hand!

I am going to marry miss paperie’s new range

It seems like just yesterday I interviewed Melissa Leung from Miss Paperie – my first interview for The Life Creative. It was, in fact, six months ago, and boy has she been a busy gal between then and now! The creative mastermind has gone from producing geometric stationery to launching a full-blown, breathtaking range of cushions and phone covers. They’re all stamped with her signature style, of course, and I for one am going a bit gaga over them. Alert the authorities: I am about to swoon!
