If my mother told me tomorrow that I was adopted, I think I’d book a redeye flight to New York to declare myself Jonathan Adler‘s brother. We seem to share the same adoration of colour, a love of quirk, a fondness of humour and a partiality to a scatter cushion or seven. It’s in his latest release – 100 Ways to Happy Chic Your Life – he cements himself as my ultimate go-to guy for out-of-the-box home decor inspiration. So, we may not be brothers, but we are at the very least cut from the same cross-stitch!

my new distressed coasters from stone inspired
I’ve been through my fair share of coasters over the years. Not only because some of them fall apart, but because it’s hard to hone in on a style that feels timeless as well as working from a practical perspective (a cork coaster is a one way ticket to Absorption City). I was a bit overcome when I got my hands on these bad boys from Stone Inspired, then – with a personalised gift inside just for me!
have you been to the new lakota trading?
Is it possible to fall in love with a photograph? Because these ones of the brand new Lakota Trading in Kensington – snapped by the amazing Cath Muscat – are making my heart skip a beat. In case you’re out of the loop on exactly what Lakota Trading is – brace yourself. It is, without a doubt, one of the best used furniture emporiums Sydney has to offer. And thanks to a change in ownership, it has a new lease of life and its vintage charm is going to take the city by storm!
decor destination: arcadia liquors in redfern
I made a conscious decision at the start of the year to get out more and explore new places, especially ones where the decor is a bit hot to trot. When my friend Holly told me I would like the fit-out at Arcadia Liquors in Redfern and that we should go there for a drink, who was I to ignore such a dangling, design carrot? Industrial decor and a cheeky wine – I’m there!
which-are-you-wednesday: cushions
I’m not afraid to admit for a moment that I’m utterly obsessed with cushions. If I had the money I’m sure I would own thousands. If only I had enough chairs, couches and beds to accommodate them all. First world problem of the highest magnitude! Help me narrow down my next selection by naming your fave cushion in this week’s which-are-you-wednesday: cushions!
ABOVE: This Coastal cushion keeps things light and breezey with its relaxed vibe. Nothing too out-there with this soft furnishing – just calming colours that play well with a neutral colour scheme. Very seaside chic indeed.
my 10 favourite second hand finds
1 | I like a tipple or two – guilty as charged. I don’t exactly have the space in my apartment for a full-on bar area though, so this tray is as good as it gets. But I have to say – for $20 at the Vinnies salvage store – it’s a space saving bar with vintage charm – I love it!
