a look at the new made by typo store

made by typo_0121

It’s no secret that I’m a bit obsessed with Typo; it’s the go-to store for all things affordable and on-trend in stationery and beyond. I was having kittens, then, when I saw these images of the new Made by Typo pop-up store in Geelong, which has just further fuelled my love for this crafty destination. I’m booking my flights down there immediately if not sooner (and I will be taking all of those pom poms home with me!).

the spray paint that’s going to change my life

P1140230

So I got invited to a media event today to take a look at Rust-Oleum‘s new range of spray paints, 2X Ultra Cover. Granted, I had not heard of Rust-Oleum before, so I was going in with a bit of a blank, Miss Teen type look on my face. Once I was at the event, though, and saw what I could do with these spray paints, I wanted to run through the place taking every colour available and yelling at security “Back off – I’m a blogger!!!!”.

hangin’ with team typo at this week’s event

Screen Shot 2013-08-30 at 1.46.39 PM

When I attended this week’s Cotton On Open House event, Mother Nature was again in fine form – beaming down some glorious golden rays (she’s been in such a good mood lately!). And when I use the term ‘open house’ I actually mean it; the event took place inside and on the lawn of a glorious home in Point Piper. It was all rather amazing. Not only did I star spot Didier Cohen and papp the lovely Lara Bingle, but I immersed myself in a tonne of Typo goodness!

Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 2.46.06 PM

Apart from the gorgeous Stockholm collection and their amazing new kitchen showroom, one of the big things to come out of the IKEA event I attended last week was their announcement to focus on the family for 2014. Living with kids was a large part of this focus. So, dear parents, this one’s for you; a look at five fabulous ideas from IKEA that will make your kids room fun for them and still easy on the eye for you. (This is just like an episode of Super Nanny but without the naughty spot!).

this week’s top seven creative finds

P1130405

1 |¬†Etsy is like that rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland; it’s a whole world of amazing that I don’t want to come back from. I came across the wondrous Camp Koodle this week and had this frame made for me by founder and creative Katie Koodle. It was a gift for my Mother-in-Law and it was very well received indeed. Contact Katie and have your own made up or take a look at her other marvellous creations over in her store.

this week’s top seven creative finds

P1130156

1 | It was Mumma Creatives 60th birthday on Saturday, so I pulled my craft box out (yes, I am a 31 year old man with a craft box!) and made some personalised gift tags using paint card samples from Bunnings. I love using these cards because the range of colours is just amazing. With the help of a balloon-shaped hole punch I got from Lincraft, I made my own little gift tags that are very one-of-a-kind. What do you think?

personalise your own ikea serving tray

P1120989

I’ve received some glorious kudos this week from both the team at IKEA and you divine Creatives for the living room makeover I performed over the weekend (shucks and thanks!). One of the stars of the show was this personalised serving tray that I took from birch wood to black and white stripe. The process is really straight-forward but I think the results are pretty smashing. Here’s how to pimp your own tray if you’re in the mood for a quick project!

You know I love supporting local creatives who are out there doing amazing things. So when I stumbled upon Nookroad, a website that not only showcases amazing handmade items that you can purchase, but explains the story and process behind them, I was onto creator Keren Moran to find out more about this inspiring endeavour.

how to make your own scented candles

P1120609

I was going to start this post with a “If it’s one thing I love about winter” vibe, but truth be told – I love everything about winter! Candles, though, are distinctly winter if you ask me, so I’m rather fond of making my own scented varieties when Mother Nature lowers the temperature.
