a lush high tea at thehome spring launch

Sometimes you see decor that makes your heart skip a beat (and leaves you wondering how far away the medics are should you need resuscitation). This scenario happened to me when I attended TheHome Spring Launch yesterday. The Gazebo Wine Garden was the venue for this afternoon high tea and the styling work from Marj Silva (below), Emma Blomfield and the team at TheHome was truly something spectacular.

industrial dreaming with retrojan releases

The Crosby Vintage Dining Chair is to die for.

It should come as no surprise by now that I would sell my grandmother for a piece of industrial furniture (ok, not really, Gran; but you better play your cards right from here on in!). So when I came across some of these industrial pieces from Retrojan, I had to sit my partner down to break the news that all of our current furniture was being sold on eBay to make way for these bad boys.

snapping the beauty at terrace outdoor living

P1110376

I first came across Terrace Outdoor Living courtesy of their pop-up store at the Supa Centre Moore Park. I was a little saddened to hear they were closing down until I realised their flagship store in Woollahra housed everything that their pop-up store did – and then some! I took to this Eastern Suburbs haven for all this green and outdoors and snapped my fave pieces!

form, function and fun at freedom

P1110227

Freedom and I have had a long friendship. I recall saving up across several paycheques as an 18 year old and going to Freedom to get my first real bedroom setting; an amazing bed, tallboy and two bedside tables combination. Years on (I won’t divulge exactly how many) I still gravitate toward this homewares haven for the very same reasons I did back then; phenomenal furniture with form, function and fun. On with the store tour…

a rainbow of colour at opus design co, paddington

P1100909

You know you’re a home decor addict when your friends send you pictures of the inside of homewares stores, saying “you have to check out this place”. That’s exactly what happened with Opus Design Co; my friend Jess shot me a photo of the inside of the store via her iPhone and as soon as I got the chance I ran in there to take it all in. It’s like a decorative rainbow exploded, in the most awe-inspiring way possible!

creative finds | this weekend’s top six

P1110313

1 | What does one do on a Saturday morning once they’ve watched their recorded home decorating shows? They go vintage store shopping, of course (you know I love me some second hand finds)! I made the treck to Vinnies in Brookvale to see what preloved treasures I could uncover and came across this little beauty. I have some tips on second-hand shopping come up this week, with more finds like this one included.

simplicity and sophistication at country road

P1110115

It takes quite a store to lure me away from using bright colours in my home. But only moments into my snap-filled store tour of Country Road in Bondi Junction, I felt compelled to call my partner, tell him the skip was pulling up outside at any given moment and prepare him for yet another complete home overhaul. You know, a  leave nothing behind scenario. This is what I call the CRE (Country Road effect) – and boy had I been struck down with it.

i’m reading happy home by charlotte hedeman gueniau

P1100275

I thought I was a fan of colour and extremely adverse to the use of beige until I picked up Happy Home by the founder of Danish homewares company RICE, Charlotte Hedeman Gueniau. It clearly states from the get-go that not all Danish design is about cool and calm interiors and I must admit, the whole ethos of the book being fun, colour and enjoyment speaks to me like the new Pope speaks to the man upstairs (and I sometimes talk back)!

obsessed with design your home by shaynna blaze

P1090690

I first saw the lovely Miss Shaynna Blaze on Selling Houses Australia years ago and instantly fell in love with the woman (well, the kind of love a homewares-adoring gay lad can have for a woman). Years later, the interior decorating legend has released her very own book, Design Your Home. And true to form, it’s practical, attainable and uniquely Shaynna B!
