the IKEA pledge to make time for living

GULORT living scene 1.47.46 PM

It’s no secret that I would move into an IKEA showroom given half the chance; my love for IKEA is that strong. What has made me even more smitten with the place is their recent mission to encourage us all to make time for living. You know, put the phone down, step away from the email and let something magical happen. Are you up for the challenge?

Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 2.46.06 PM

Apart from the gorgeous Stockholm collection and their amazing new kitchen showroom, one of the big things to come out of the IKEA event I attended last week was their announcement to focus on the family for 2014. Living with kids was a large part of this focus. Screen Shot 2013-08-11 at 11.00.41 AM

I sat down with the former makeup artist and learnt a few things about stationery, running a family business and her hatred of tomatoes!

creative finds | this week’s top seven

P1100900

1 | I lost my mind strolling through Opus Design Co in Paddington and I am not certain I have it back yet. The front window of this store was breathtaking on its own. This ottoman, in all its coloured glory, is the things dreams are made of (if only I didn’t have cats who would take joy in removing every single ball). I love the colour clash that’s going on with this piece – it just works. Continue reading

things i’ve learnt about stylist mason browne

7thwonder 4

Sydney stylist Mason Browne is the ultimate slashie; with a career that spans 14 years in the entertainment and hospitality industries, the self confessed Instagram addict and now-stylist – among other roles in writing and production design – has certainly had his finger in many pies. Drawing inspiration from just about everywhere, he finds solace in books when he’s in a rutt. “There is nothing better… just grab a heap of really heavy art, design, fashion and photography books, camp out and just absorb the imagery”. Here’s a few more things I learnt about this man about town.
