Nothing gave me greater pleasure this past week than receiving a sneak peek into the upcoming 2014 IKEA catalogue. Not only are there some glorious new products on the horizon and a real focus on spending time at home with loved ones, but there’s two hot trends that caught my eye in particular – and they’re very different decor looks indeed!

1 | I lost my mind strolling through Opus Design Co in Paddington and I am not certain I have it back yet. The front window of this store was breathtaking on its own. This ottoman, in all its coloured glory, is the things dreams are made of (if only I didn’t have cats who would take joy in removing every single ball). i’m reading happy home by charlotte hedeman gueniau

I thought I was a fan of colour and extremely adverse to the use of beige until I picked up Happy Home by the founder of Danish homewares company RICE, Charlotte Hedeman Gueniau. It clearly states from the get-go that not all Danish design is about cool and calm interiors and I must admit, the whole ethos of the book being fun, colour and enjoyment speaks to me like the new Pope speaks to the man upstairs (and I sometimes talk back)!
