so I just discovered koskela (omfg!)

I must start this post with an apology; Koskela, I’m sorry it took me so long to discover you. However, now that I’ve experienced the magic of your store, I’m declaring my love for you and intend to serenade you with that John Mayer song, Your Body is a Wonderland. Because, truly, that’s how I feel after having walked around the space last weekend. Creatives, have a medic on standby for this store tour. It’s colourful, it’s quirky and it’s a whole lotta lovely!

this week’s top seven creative finds

Screen Shot 2013-08-01 at 1.44.09 PM

1 | I had my socks rocked off this week when I got my hands on this amazing trio of concrete candle holders from Melbourne company Sarai Homewares. Available in a range of colours – including neon – these three holders are made and set in recycled moulds, which is all rather environmentally friendly! The company also stocks my other love – cushions – and more!

real rooms: lani kirpichnikov’s holiday home

home - Version 2

I half wanted to smile and half wanted to cry when I saw this photo hit my inbox. Smile because this Real Room from Lani Kirpichnikov is utterly, utterly stunning – and cry because I am so filled with jealousy right now (as I sit with my bar heater on) that I’m practically ready to release my own cologne, TLC: Envy. Just look at this fiery phenomenon; it’s amazing!

temple & webster style workshop at iscd

P1120560

It’s safe to say that nothing will keep me away from my love of styling. When I was offered the chance to attend the Temple & Webster styling workshop at the International School of Colour and Design on Saturday, not even the wet and wild Sydney weather could hold me back. Not only did I walk away with the tools to complete my living room look, but I got to meet Temple & Webster superstar (and my personal interiors icons) Karen McCartney. Cue the crazy fan moment!

1 | I am addicted to buying cards. So much so that I have a stack in my drawer just waiting for an occasion to roll around. I was in all sorts of fits of ecstasy this week when I got my hands on these mind-blowing cards from TJ Stationery. They’re letterpress ones – printed on 100% cotton paper stock – and I just love how simplistic, playful and charming they are. The Kite and Swing ones are my fave, but there are many more, all with the same sense of love. Too good.

industrial dreaming with retrojan releases

The Crosby Vintage Dining Chair is to die for.

It should come as no surprise by now that I would sell my grandmother for a piece of industrial furniture (ok, not really, Gran; but you better play your cards right from here on in!). So when I came across some of these industrial pieces from Retrojan, I had to sit my partner down to break the news that all of our current furniture was being sold on eBay to make way for these bad boys.

decor destination: arcadia liquors in redfern

P1120181

I made a conscious decision at the start of the year to get out more and explore new places, especially ones where the decor is a bit hot to trot. When my friend Holly told me I would like the fit-out at Arcadia Liquors in Redfern and that we should go there for a drink, who was I to ignore such a dangling, design carrot? Industrial decor and a cheeky wine – I’m there!

review: mr jason grant’s a place called home

P1110721

I was eagerly awaiting the launch of A Place Called Home by Sydney stylist Mr Jason Grant for quite a while – and for many reasons. Firstly, how refreshing to see a home decor book my a male! Secondly, I had seen the front cover of the book splashed over social media and it alone had spoken to me (I have that storage box, I love decorating with red and I adore using pegs to display photos!) Lastly, he’s uniquely Australian; what’s not to love about a local lad whose spent years working with popular magazines, now releasing a book that chronicles his favourite things?

an exclusive look inside the aparttment

P1110812

The Sydney CBD is inundated with places to eat and bars to drink at, but what’s been missing for quite a while is the presence of boutique stores you usually find scattered about the Eastern Suburbs (or down in Melbourne, for that matter). Things changed very recently when The Aparttment opened its doors, giving city dwellers the chance to immerse themselves in one-of-a-kind clothing, homewares, art and accessories. Brace yourselves, Creatives, this one’s a goodie!

creative finds | this weekend’s top seven

P1100579

1 | I am not sure what you call an Easter version of Kris Kringle, but my office is doing one this week and I was so freakin’ excited to get my hands on one of these awesome paper bags – complete with bunny stamp and pom pom – at Paper2 in Surry Hills. I always say the presentation is just as important as the present itself, so once I fill mine with oodles of chocolate I certainly hope the recipient enjoys it!
