real rooms: juliet’s colourful kitchen diner

image (1)

Juliet Morris’ divine kitchen and dining space caught my attention for a few reasons. Yes, the fully stocked bar was one of them, but the punches of colour were also a drawcard. Having lived in this Curtin home with her husband Clive and two children for ten years, Juliet is a clear lover of high voltage hue, allowing her pieces to pop by pairing them with a black and white base.

a tour of tlc headquarters – my humble home!

Screen Shot 2013-08-10 at 3.41.27 PM

I did a bit of a clean up on Saturday and thought it might be a good opportunity to show you inside my home. After all, the cats were behaving, the sun was shining and I was busy killing time trying to avoid doing homework for my course (procrastination is something I’ve become very skilled at). So here you go, Creatives, it’s not the stuff magazines are made of – but nobody lives in the magazines anyway – so take a squiz and let me know what you think.

Screen Shot 2013-08-01 at 3.44.47 PM

Nothing gave me greater pleasure this past week than receiving a sneak peek into the upcoming 2014 IKEA catalogue. Not only are there some glorious new products on the horizon and a real focus on spending time at home with loved ones, but there’s two hot trends that caught my eye in particular – and they’re very different decor looks indeed!

real rooms: lani kirpichnikov’s holiday home

home - Version 2

I half wanted to smile and half wanted to cry when I saw this photo hit my inbox. Smile because this Real Room from Lani Kirpichnikov is utterly, utterly stunning – and cry because I am so filled with jealousy right now (as I sit with my bar heater on) that I’m practically ready to release my own cologne,¬†TLC: Envy. Just look at this fiery phenomenon; it’s amazing!

I can always turn to the team at Typo when it  comes time to rotate my office trinkets, pimp out my homewares or update my stationery. For July, they have not disappointed me in the slightest with their range of fun and bright new items. Shall we take a look at my top picks from Typo for the month of July? Yes, I think we should!

adding some colour to my sandwiches

P1120661

Working in an office has given me great insight into what one should never bring into work for lunch. Parmesan cheese is something best left to enjoy at home, for example. A sandwich on the other hand, you can never go wrong with (ok, unless it’s curried egg. Again, best left for a special night in… alone).

this week’s top seven creative finds

IMG_3306

1 | Sunday’s wet weather did not stop me from getting out to scout for creative finds. Top3 by Design rewarded me for my troubles with the discovery of these amazing Gascoigne & King candles. These luxury soy candles come in a variety of scents, but the Figue has to be my fave for its timeless, earthy fragrance. Once you sniff these bad boys you’ll be hooked. I recommend ordering an intervention in advance!

review: mr jason grant’s a place called home

P1110721

I was eagerly awaiting the launch of A Place Called Home by Sydney stylist Mr Jason Grant for quite a while – and for many reasons. Firstly, how refreshing to see a home decor book my a male! Secondly, I had seen the front cover of the book splashed over social media and it alone had spoken to me (I have that storage box, I love decorating with red and I adore using pegs to display photos!) Lastly, he’s uniquely Australian; what’s not to love about a local lad whose spent years working with popular magazines, now releasing a book that chronicles his favourite things?

this week’s top seven creative finds

P1110652

1 | I love a good book (well, homewares book) and I love the opportunity to eat, drink and gossip. How fitting then that this awesome tea towel from Tea Towel Empire came my way this week. I love their ban on floral designs and their tongue-in-cheek approach. They have a whole world of varying text-clad tea towels, but this one has to be my favourite – love the colours!

my top five market picks for a colourful kitchen

It’s no secret that I have a small aversion to a beige colour scheme. My kitchen lends itself to much the same aversion. If there’s one space you can splash out and be a little daring, it’s this room! So while things might be a little dreary outside this Autumn, get a little bright and happy with these market picks (and do let me know what you love).
