I don’t quite know how to describe Parterre other than to say it’s quite magical and enchanting. I’ve driven past it a few times and also been into the store on the odd occasion and am constantly blown away by how gloriously French-inspired their world is. Set over two levels with a majestic outdoor space, this Woollahra wonderland is a must-see for locals who love quality, old-world wares. And for those of you who aren’t in Sydney, take a virtual tour here!

my homewares adventure in lovely lane cove
I love nothing more than connecting with local Creatives, so I was beyond chuffed when In the Cove‘s Jacky Barker invited me for a tour of the most marvellous homewares stores Lane Cove has to offer. In the space of a few hours we managed to squeeze in many gasp-worthy moments across three great stores – each of which was uniquely different from the other!
this week’s top seven creative finds
1 | Etsy is like that rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland; it’s a whole world of amazing that I don’t want to come back from. I came across the wondrous Camp Koodle this week and had this frame made for me by founder and creative Katie Koodle. It was a gift for my Mother-in-Law and it was very well received indeed. Contact Katie and have your own made up or take a look at her other marvellous creations over in her store.
which-are-you-wednesday: armchairs
There’s something wonderfully indulgent about an armchair. I think it’s mostly because it’s made for one person; a real opportunity to have some you time and claim some real estate that nobody else can invade. Whether you curl up with a book, a wine or a cat (or like me, all three!), an armchair is a home essential. But what’s your style? Cast your vote in this week’s Which-are-you-Wednesday: Armchairs!
ABOVE: This Bold Chevron armchair makes a real statement thanks to its use of contrasting black and white colours. The backrest buttoning gives it an added bit of interest, too. Stockist: Oz Design.
creative finds | this week’s top seven
1 | I lost my mind strolling through Opus Design Co in Paddington and I am not certain I have it back yet. The front window of this store was breathtaking on its own. This ottoman, in all its coloured glory, is the things dreams are made of (if only I didn’t have cats who would take joy in removing every single ball). I love the colour clash that’s going on with this piece – it just works. Continue reading
the antique magic at the bronte tram
It’s not often I wish for a red light when driving, but every time I go past The Bronte Tram I pray to the homewares gods to give me the red! When I’m lucky enough, they answer my call and I get to sit there long enough to take in the beauty that is this amazing antique, homewares and collectables store. This time around I parked the car, braced myself for oncoming heart palpitations and went on in – camera in hand.
creative finds | this weekend’s top five
1 | Since receiving my sewing machine for Christmas, my mind has been occupied with thoughts of one thing; fabric! I headed off to Spotlight at the weekend and nabbed these two. The first stop on my sewing journey is going to be some glorious summer cushions. These pops of colour are very on point!
break the rules and colour clash
Homewares mags and sites the world over are always stressing the importance of mixing colours correctly when it comes to home decor. But sometimes you just have to abandon the colour wheel and break a few rules! It’s time to embrace a rainbow of hues; let’s colour clash!
