As the creative director behind The Gentry – a design business that has undertaken a slew of well-known interiors projects – Kelly Ross also happens to be my teacher at the International School of Colour and Design. Having travelled for 13 years as a set, props and scenic creative for theatre, she’s had quite an artistic journey so far. I sat down for a chat with this Sydney-based Creative to find out more about her business, her role at iscd and what she considers to be her finest moment.

Screen Shot 2013-06-29 at 8.57.59 PM

Jayde Leeder is one busy gal. Not only is she a mother to two little ones (six-year-old Iggy and 14-month-old Minty – who Jayde tells me suffers from FOMO and thinks she’s 27), but she co-owns my fave store for all things stationery, Little Paper Lane, in the Sydney suburb of Mona Vale. Drawing inspiration from just about everywhere, he finds solace in books when he’s in a rutt. “There is nothing better… just grab a heap of really heavy art, design, fashion and photography books, camp out and just absorb the imagery”. Here’s a few more things I learnt about this man about town.

discovering the fringe bar flea markets

You know, sometimes you can live in a city and not be aware that there are creative things happening right on your doorstep. Case in point: the newly renovated Fringe Bar flea markets in Paddington, Sydney – taking place every Saturday and showcasing some very too-cool local creatives and their wares.
