a chat with stationery goddess jayde leeder

Jayde Leeder is one busy gal. Not only is she a mother to two little ones (six-year-old Iggy and 14-month-old Minty – who Jayde tells me suffers from FOMO and thinks she’s 27), but she co-owns my fave store for all things stationery, Little Paper Lane, in the Sydney suburb of Mona Vale. I sat down with the former makeup artist and learnt a few things about stationery, running a family business and her hatred of tomatoes!

10 creative finds you never got to see

I was struck down with a cold this week, which meant getting out and about to snap some creative finds was very much off the cards. Thankfully, though, I have an entire vault of photos from my adventures around the traps; which means you get to see 10 very gorgeous finds that never made it onto my usual top seven. On with the show…

1 | I love street art when it’s done well and this piece – that I came across from an adventure in Fitzroy last year – is just amazing. I swear when I purchase a house, I want to find a street artist who can come and create something like this for me on a wall in my backyard. I know graffiti isn’t for everyone, but I love the urban and industrial nature of it. Please let me know if you’re aware of an artist who could do this for me!

why you’re going to love *bespoke* magazine

issue9-bespoke-1-coverhr

This week I got the opportunity to fall in love with a new magazine; one that blends arts, crafts, creative people, places and more. Sounds a little bit like The Life Creative, don’t you think? Perhaps this is why I’m so smitten with *bespoke*. For its ninth issue, new editors Robyn and Elle redirected the mag’s focus slightly to include only Australian and NZ creatives and their handmade products. Supporting local creatives – what could be better? This issue is full of inspiration and a few gorgeous surprises. On with the preview!

mother’s day markets at the grounds

P1110717

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of The Grounds of Alexandria. I’ve shown you just how breathtaking this venue is before on my garden tour. So when I caught word that they were putting on Mother’s Day markets, well, it kicked my excitement levels into overdrive and of course, I had to check it out. From flowers to food to farm animals – it was all there – and I snapped it like a fiend for your viewing pleasure!

colour trend | decorating with neon

P1100426

If there’s a homewares store that’s not stocking neon at the moment, I certainly haven’t come across it. This fantastic fad is trending hard and with good reason; it’s a great way to inject some wow factor to an otherwise so-so colour scheme. Shall we have a look at some successful neon decorating ideas and where you can get them? Yes, we shall!

this week’s top seven creative finds

P1110468

1 | I saw this polka dot Home Republic bedspread on the Adairs website on Friday and high-tailed it to the Supa Centa Moore Park on Saturday to grab this bad boy. I just love how happy it is. The pic above is a media image, sadly, but once I have it on my bed and my side tables are decked out appropriately you’ll see full pics. Side note; the underside is aqua. Too good!

the mister moss story with creator jenna spence

IMG_2254

Sometimes you stumble across a creative who truly epitomises the concept of making it big and living the dream. Case in point – Melbourne-based Jenna Spence from Mister Moss – who took her genius creation and turned it into a fully-fledged business, producing a product that I’m currently going gaga over. I took five with this creative to get the lowdown on these glorious hanging plants and how it all came together.

greenery, gold and giggles at garden life redfern

P1100545

I’ve always thought that the garden should be a little out of control, a bit untamed, a tad random and not too thought-out. I had never considered though – until my trip to Garden Life in Redfern – that it could also be a place for humour and fun. Needless to say, after hitting this Cleveland Street haven and eyeing off their wares, I am well and truly eager to make the garden a giggle-fest!

giftware nirvana at follow store surry hills

P1100397

I know I say this every time I do a store tour, but Follow Store in Surry Hills really is my favourite one so far – for real! I wanted to have a movie moment just minutes into the experience and yell “charge it to my card and have it delivered”. I very well would have if I wasn’t concerned the transaction would decline. But really, there’s something special about Follow and it truly struck a chord with me. It’s a giftware paradise and I must now alert my friends; all future gifts will be coming from Follow.

stationery bliss at little paper lane

P1090848

I’d known for a long time – being an absolute stationery lover – that an expedition to Little Paper Lane in Sydney’s Northern Beaches was going to be an awe-inspiring experience. I wasn’t quite ready, though, for just how jaw-droppingly amazing it actually was (cue the love song!).
