real rooms: cheryl pryce’s bedroom sanctuary

image

To kick off The Life Creative’s Real Rooms, I thought it was patriotic that we started in the nations capital. This charming bedroom sanctuary belongs to Canberra native Cheryl Pryce; a public servant who is about to embark on an interior design course (is there any better course?). Sharing the 1970’s townhouse with her daughter, two dogs and two cats, Cheryl’s spent the last six weeks recovering from a car accident, which is why this bedroom has become so vital.

my fave pages from the august real living

P1120926

Issue 90 of Real Living hit my doorstep last week and I’ve been soaking up the interiors goodness for the past few days. This issue was a standout not only because it featured my one true love (industrial decor), but because it showcased some amazing homes that are a little left-of-field. I am swooning all over this issue like a bald eagle. That is, if bald eagles do indeed swoon. I imagine they do. How else do they get prey?

a chat with stationery goddess jayde leeder

Screen Shot 2013-06-29 at 8.57.59 PM

Jayde Leeder is one busy gal. Not only is she a mother to two little ones (six-year-old Iggy and 14-month-old Minty – who Jayde tells me suffers from FOMO and thinks she’s 27), but she co-owns my fave store for all things stationery, Little Paper Lane, in the Sydney suburb of Mona Vale. I sat down with the former makeup artist and learnt a few things about stationery, running a family business and her hatred of tomatoes!

a little indulgence at sparkle cupcakery

P1120347

It’s safe to say that I’m addicted to sugar. If I didn’t run regularly I’m not sure in what state my body would be in (actually, a pretty blissful one). In any event, I was delighted to pop into the wonder that is Sparkle Cupcakery at the weekend and finally try one of their fantastic cupcake creations. I’m going to keep it real and admit that they’re going to be a staple in my diet from here on in because they’re that good. And on a sidenote, I will need to run more.

a rainbow of colour at opus design co, paddington

P1100909

You know you’re a home decor addict when your friends send you pictures of the inside of homewares stores, saying “you have to check out this place”. That’s exactly what happened with Opus Design Co; my friend Jess shot me a photo of the inside of the store via her iPhone and as soon as I got the chance I ran in there to take it all in. It’s like a decorative rainbow exploded, in the most awe-inspiring way possible!

creative finds | this week’s top seven

P1100900

1 | I lost my mind strolling through Opus Design Co in Paddington and I am not certain I have it back yet. The front window of this store was breathtaking on its own. This ottoman, in all its coloured glory, is the things dreams are made of (if only I didn’t have cats who would take joy in removing every single ball). I love the colour clash that’s going on with this piece – it just works. Continue reading

stationery bliss at little paper lane

P1090848

I’d known for a long time – being an absolute stationery lover – that an expedition to Little Paper Lane in Sydney’s Northern Beaches was going to be an awe-inspiring experience. I wasn’t quite ready, though, for just how jaw-droppingly amazing it actually was (cue the love song!).

i refurbed a second-hand stool

IMG_3063P1080385

Turning this $15 stool that i found at Vinnies into a cute piece for my place was easier than I thought it would be. And surprisingly, it was pretty cheap too. I’m absolutely in love with this stool now (should there be a fire this might be the first thing I take). And the best part, when I get sick of the fabric on top it’s a cinch to change up! Check out how it all came together…
